Let's get on the road! Brisbane - The Gold Coast!

25/07/4

Picked up the car! $2500 froze on my credit card for the excess. Fingers crossed. It's a long white Ford Falcon, not covered with writing...! Automatic though, so Laura keeps slamming the brakes on, thinking it's the clutch!

We drove to the lookout point at Mt Coottha to oversee Brisbane, have a sandwich and plan where to go. There was a nice botanic gardens and planetarium Dad and George might like.

Got on the road to the Gold Coast probably to stay in Surfers. Got off the motorway at paradise point to drive down the coast road and got out to sit for a bit. Both feeling hungover tired. Went on to Surfers and drove through a few times looking at the hostels but it's difficult to quickly look them up as your driving past to find prices. With the car we got 10% discount on a list of campsites so decided to do that. The campsite was at Nobby beach/Miami a bit more south. But we found the car came with a tent but no sleeping bags. We'd have to go find some cheap ones, they'll probably come in handy. Once parked on our piece of grass with a plug socket we lazed around for a few hours and skyped Danny, as didn't feel up to much! And then as it was getting nearer to dark thought we better go to a shop.

The shop was funny. Hungover shopping. We chose a couple of cheap duvets and pillows and walked with them through the supermarket too. Picked up some food for dinner. Went back and ate in the dark at our table and chairs and then set up our bed in the back of the car! Thought we'd be able to get off nice and early if we didn't have to take a tent down.

We watched a film on the iPad before sleep. George had set us up with a few in Canberra. Most uncomfortable nights sleep ever, it hurt every time I moved and woke me up. Might have to get a camping mat if we so this again, it's so hard!
